Imagine if every word you spoke to your partner was respectful.


Not polite in a fake way, not sugar-coated... but truly respectful. No eye-rolls. No sarcastic digs. No “I’m just venting” rants at their expense.

That’s the idea behind Terry Real’s full-respect living. And it’s deceptively simple. Before you speak, you ask yourself: “Is what I’m about to say respectful?” If the answer is no, you wait, breathe, and reframe.

Respect doesn’t mean you avoid conflict. It means you address it in a way that keeps dignity intact; for both of you. “I’m sick of you leaving your crap everywhere” might feel satisfying in the moment, but “I’d appreciate it if you picked up your clothes” will get you a lot further.

Full-respect living is a muscle. At first, you’ll notice how often you want to speak from irritation or judgment. Over time, you start catching yourself earlier. And eventually, respect becomes second nature—not just with your partner, but with everyone.

It’s amazing how small shifts in language can create massive shifts in connection. Respect builds trust, and trust keeps love safe enough to grow.
