The Fall Equinox: Finding Balance in Change
Mahan Khalsa | SEP 21, 2025
On the fall equinox, day and night meet as equals before the tilt toward longer nights begins. The sun shines directly over the equator, offering a rare moment of harmony - a reminder that balance is never fixed, but something we continuously return to.
As the trees release their leaves, we too are invited to let go of what no longer serves us - old habits, belief systems and patterns of thinking, or decluttering ways of being that feel too heavy for this new season. In our relationships, it’s a chance to reflect: Are we giving and receiving in equal measure? Listening as much as we speak?
As daylight lessens, our rhythms naturally shift. We may feel called to slow down, seek warmth, or turn inward. Honoring these cues through rest, journaling, or shared rituals can support both our wellbeing and our connections.
The equinox whispers: Letting go is not loss. Darkness is not absence, but the fertile ground of renewal. This season invites us to simplify, to honor rest, and to nurture what matters most.
Here are a few journal prompts for you to explore. Enjoy the inquiry.
What is ready to be released?
Like the trees shedding their leaves, what habits, patterns, or ways of being can I let go of to create more space and ease in my life?
Where am I seeking balance?
In my relationships, work, and personal rhythms, where do I feel harmony - and where do I notice imbalance asking for attention?
What do I want to nurture through the darker months ahead?
What practices, connections, or intentions feel worth tending like seeds in the soil of autumn and winter?
Remember, the equinox is not just a moment in time, but an invitation to pause, release, and realign with what truly matters.
Happy Autumn Equinox.
